We are absolutely thrilled to officially announce our new collaboration with The Folio Society for the definitive Limited Edition box set of Margaret Atwood’s dystopian masterpieces, "The Handmaid’s Tale" and "The Testaments."
Fourteen years after our historic 2012 edition, we have returned to the prophetic world of Gilead to visualize the entire saga in an exclusive collector's set, beautifully bound and presented in a custom clamshell box. The official global release is scheduled for November 3rd, 2026, coinciding with the US presidential elections.
Strictly limited to just 750 hand-signed copies worldwide, priced at £535 / $760, this landmark edition features an introduction by Margaret Atwood and a powerful new foreword by Naomi Alderman (author of The Power), complemented by sixteen of our full-color interior plates.
Our creative process for this project mirrors the making of a film: deeply reading the story to select the most compelling narrative points, while drawing visual inspiration from painting, sculpture, theatre, cinema, graphics, and fashion. For this final return to Gilead, we fostered a dialogue between our twin creative souls: the graphic and the pictorial. We developed a minimalist, conceptual geometric design for the outer covers and slipcase, while opting for our signature mixed artisanal technique for the interior artwork. Blending traditional fine-art mediums (pencil, pen, watercolor, gouache, and tempera) with digital execution, every single brushstroke is completely handcrafted without shortcuts or pre-set filters to project a surrealist 'Nightmare' exploring total oppression.
We are deeply proud that the craftsmanship of this Limited Edition celebrates absolute Italian excellence: the books are printed in Venice by the historic Grafiche Veneziane, before traveling out of the medieval city by Gondola to be bound in fine leather by the Italian book-binder Graphicom.
